Nothing about the place was enticing apart from the fact that there was a queue to get in. After about 20 minutes we manged to get a table and a Chinese...server speaking fluent French and scattered English took our order of fried green beans, Kung pao prawns, salt and pepper spare ribs and pork fried rice. To wash it all down we ordered a bottle of an unknown Pinot Grigio, which turned out to be quite drinkable. First to arrive were the green beans, perfectly fried, yet a bit crunchy mixed with spicy minced pork, schezuan peppers and dry red chillies. We fell on it like hungry wolves - they were deee-licious. Next came the prawns - again perfectly cooked with crunchy vegetables and the typical slightly sweet Kung Pao sauce. This was followed by the spare ribs crisply fried with a snowy salt-and-pepper coating yet the meat was juicy and tasty. The last to arrive was the fried rice which we used to repeat-eat the previous 3 dishes. The random order of the dishes confused us a bit initially until we realized that each was being served straight off the wok. As we were finishing our meal the young owner dropped by to chat. My friend and i both love spicy food but today we ordered something not spicy here my friend is Caucasian....The night before we ate here, we had a liver steak in a Portugese restaurant; there, the liver was served as a whole and was very thick. Today, here I recommend my friend a similar dish - liver stir-fried with scallion and he enjoyed it tremendously. Liver is hard to cook. In Chinese cuisine, liver are cut into think slices and stir-fried in a short amount of time. The heat and the time-in-wok for the liver need to be very precise. Otherwise, if cooked too long, the liver will become powdery and/or rubbery. The liver served here was just perfect. We also shared another dish - Mao's braised pork. My friend knows Chinese food but he had not tried this before. So when I suggested this dish he agreed to try.
